GDANSK UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY/GDANSKIE WODY SP. Z O.O. [LTD.]– PROJECT ANALYSIS

MONITORING SYSTEM OF PRECIPITATION AND WATER LEVEL IN THE CITY OF GDANSK.

Measuring system including an automatic transmission of hydro – and meteorological parameters

The project consisted of delivery, assembly, installation and start-up of a measuring system of precipitation and water level in the city of Gdansk.

The task included an assembly and start-up of remote monitoring system in 11 locations (gauging / rain stations) in the Strzyza Stream catchment area in Gdansk, transferring logged data to the IT system of „Gdanskie Melioracje Sp. z o.o.” – currently GDANSKIE WODY SP. Z O. O. [LTD.].

The project was carried by Faculty of Civic and Environmental Engineering of Gdansk University of Technology with cooperation of „Gdanskie Melioracje” Sp. z o.o.

Customer: Gdansk University of Technology

Location: Gdansk, Poland

Design: Rain and thaw waters retention control and flood threat forecast in urbanized catchment.

Equipment:

7 hydrostatic stations for water level measurements – e-HydroLOG Stat

3 ultrasonic stations for water level measurements – e-HydroLOG Ultra

1 precipitation measurement station – e-HydroLOG Opad

Works

  • The assembly and the start-up of measuring stations

  • Connecting power from grid junction cabinets on-site

  • Ensuring the compatibility with the precipitation and water level monitoring system, used by „Gdanskie Melioracje”.

  • Measurements are made every 1 minute and data is sent to the Gdanskie Melioracje’s server every 10 minutes.

Summary

  • Creation a system of 11 measurement stations

  • Monitoring of such parameters as : precipitation, water level, voltage on a battery, level of GSM signal, opening of an electrical cabinet

  • Automatic alarms 24/h SMS

  • Continuous work of station through at least 90 days.
